Let us summarize this video for you in a few short sentences. Here’s what happened. A mother is looking after her child in the hallway of a building, holding a smartphone in her hand. Suddenly, after walking around, the child stood close to the staircase area and fell.

Thanks to quick reflexes, the mother quickly jumped out and grabbed her son’s leg and succeeded in saving her son’s life.
She should have received more compliments from people around her and on the Internet. However, netizens are highly displeased by the fact that she used the phone while taking care of the child, and she took good care of her phone (still holding the phone then gently putting it down with her right hand while still grabbing her son’s leg with her left hand).

Many opinions state that smartphones have become such an essential part of our lives, so much so that they have let us ignore the people closest to our hearts, putting us in a separate bubble of our own and suggesting she maybe drop the phone next time? They also advised parents to spend time playing and having fun with their children rather than looking at the phone and taking care of the baby.
However, many people defend her; Brianda Castro Ocampo – a netizen, commented: “If she were a bad mother and not paying attention, she would not have reacted as fast as she did and saved her child. People must stop acting like they are perfect, and they never multitask if they have kids. I am done with this society’s double standards.”
What do you think about this? Do you support the mother or think she should be more careful next time? Let us know your thoughts!
You go mom!! You ARE a superhero.
First off, how many of y’all gonna tell me you are NEVER on your phone around your young child. No one can say that.
Second off, stop ragging on the fact that it’s a phone. We all distract ourselves with stuff around youngins, don’t add on crap just bc it’s a phone.
Lastly, how many of y’all can say you actually do still keep an eye on your kid while your on your phone or doing something. Probably a third of us can actually multi task. I’m so sorry to the mom for any shit your receiving, it’s probably from bad mothers 😅.
Sincerely, a kid with the best mom ever.
When your in a situation such as hers a cell phone is the last thing that’s on your mind amongst other things you could have held in your hands as well. The time she spent trying put that phone down could of cost her baby’s life. No need to criticize the woman like that. Neither one of us is perfect. Do you actually think this woman was worried about the cellphone that was in her hands?? No she wasn’t ! Had she took them seconds to try lay that phone down bout time she looked back up the baby would have been gone! She did not only a great job but a perfect job saving her baby and of others don’t believe she is a hero , she most definitely a hero in my eyes💝💝💝💝💝
Why is the a huge gap in the railings ? That shouldn’t be .. he wouldn’t have fell through if there were railings pfft don’t blame the mother
Hi This happen to me when I was 20 my son was 2 years old. We was walking out the apartment door 🚪 my mom been asking the rent man to fix the Railing. But he never fix it so one day he had the Stairways paint it . Me an my son was on our way out the door it had been raining but the stairs has been dry for three days . But when we walked out I had him by the hand 🤚🏽 but some how he slip an went thru the broking railing 🥲 I was in shock My grandmother ran up the stairs why I was in shock I remember her Slapping me. When I came thru I was screaming so loud 🥲 My neighbor was downstairs taking off her shirt 👚 Put it under my son Head When the ambulance got there he was gasing for like he had been hit like a dog 🐶 his forehead was so big He cracked his His skull from one side to the other side. They killed They killed my son Wauk for two kept my son woke for two days they told me my son was not going to make it 🥲 Today my son is 39 year’s old with no Brain 🧠 issues Thank you Jesus 🙏🏾 So this can happen to anyone an yes my mother sue the rent man so in my eyes this mother is a superhero to her own son 💪🏾🙏🏾
I think of this was a dad, ppl would be praising him.
I think she did amazing. I thought that stairwell had glass and than all of sudden he fell. I was shocked that building didn’t have railings.
She’s a great mom who had fast reflexes and saved her sons life. She is in a building and using the phone. Do we know what she was doing there or who was on the phone? No. Only she knows and it doesn’t matter anyway. We are hypocrites if we say we never use our phone when carding for our children. Everyone with a child today has used their phone while with their child at some point/many points. It just so happens this potential life or death situation happened within a split second and she had the reflexes to react in the manner she did. That’s a good mom. She’s a good mom and doesn’t deserve the backlash.
I feel bad for this mother..I can only imagine the horror that went through her mind when she saw this. And she probably does blame herself for looking at her phone. My son fell down the stairs once. I wasn’t even on my phone I was getting ready to move and packing up my bathroom and asked a man to keep an eye on him for just a few mins when I had to go under the sink. I remember the horror and panic that went through me when it happened and so I know this women was crying and holding her baby close when she finally got him. To me it looked like she was waiting for an appointment and that she was using her phone to let whomever know she was at the appointment and waiting outside the door. This could happen to anyone and has happened to the best of us.
Phone or no phone she saved her child. Why is there no focus on the fact that there is an opening large enough for a child to fit through? Especially in a public building? Are there not building codes with safety codes to prevent these incidents? She shouldn’t have had to worry about such an incident and it seems to me she should be able to sue them!
First and foremost that shouldn’t have not open like that. The slats should be in place for reasons such as this. Secondly I stand with this mother. As a mother of 6 I know how hard it can be to multitask and take care of children. If she wasn’t “paying attention” as some people have commented, then she wouldn’t have been able to save him as fast as he did. End of story.
1- I’m on the market ms side. 2- as I read she was at a clinic and was told she’d have to CALL as nd make as n appointment. 3— I don’t think it’s a stairwell it think it’s a railing, cause we ad she dove to grab her child a guy on the bottom not the screen wearing a bike helmet went what it looked like to me was a stairwell. Have the best rest of you day.
Seems like whoever owns the building could be sued and make repairs so something like that won’t happen again and someone die. The little kid even reached for railings that weren’t there.
Isn’t there vertical pickets missing from that railing? Seems like the kid went through a gap in the railing.
It’s sick for you to judge a mom after saving her child and for you to say you can’t multitask with kids is wrong your suppose to know how to multitask with kids .. especially if you have more than one .. you have to hold a baby feed them maybe work clean anything .. multitask is in a mother an a good one at that !!!! It’s literally mothers out here that starve theyre child beat on them & etc !!! She is a mom an will protect her an her son at any cost !
Her insint just held the phone her brain was on saving her son life
Yes!! They were all involuntary reactions to the situation. Thank God one of them saved her baby ❤️
She is an awesome mom! When things like this happen you don’t have to think about putting the phone down instead her first thought was to save her child your brain processes what u think first then send signals to your body parts to move so I feel she focused on the rite thing which is saving her child that one sec it took for her to think of dropping her phone could of caused that baby his life
My first thought after sigh if relief that she had such mim reflexes was , people gonna bash her. But if I were her if ignore the negative cause we all do it. Quote that Jesus told the men fixing to stone prostitute , ye without sin cast the first stone.None could do tell them to take their stones n shove them cause they all do wrong everyone that is saying negative . ” I
“” # CAST NO STONES”” . .Them momma reflexes was fast af!¡
Did no one realize the kid thought it was a glass window he tried putting his hands on as if there was a window, she’s not q bad mom I’ve seen worse, she did the right thing.
Truth be told, If the baby would’ve fallen the mother could’ve definitely filed a lawsuit. Yes she was distracted, but who expects to be in a public establishment and find a gaping hole where the railing should be?! She probably didn’t even notice the hole until the baby was falling.
It appears to me the phone had nothing to do with it. It’s not always reflex in an emergency to drop what you’re holding. I hydroplaned on the freeway and as my car spun around I held tightly to my cup of coffee. It sure as hell wasn’t because I valued the coffee more than my own life. As for this mom, I don’t think the phone was an issue. It looked like she was paying attention to her kid the whole time. The issue is that she watched him get that close to the edge without doing something sooner. At that age my daughter never would have been at the top of a staircase without holding my hand. That being said, we all make mistakes as parents. I’ve done plenty that I could kick myself for after thinking about it later. Thank God she was at least paying enough attention to grab him in time.
I felt the same way about the phone at first, as to why she seemed so worried about it in the midst of everything, but then I thought maybe she felt the need to keep it close to her cuz she didn’t know how good of a grip she had and might’ve needed to call 911 in a hurry. Now, as to why she was on it when he was walking away. It looks as though it’s a Drs office or something and with most pediatricians now you have to call before you can come in cuz of Covid. So perhaps that’s what was happening. Just my thoughts. Either way praise God he’s safe.
