In the past, scientists have found a lot of special fish that live on the ocean floor, even though some of them still have legs, they have not gone away.

But recently, a new, much more special species was found, the hand-held fish, scientifically known as Thymichthys Politus, thought to be the world’s rarest fish, which lived only on a 50-metre coral reef in Frederick Henry Bay near Hobart, southeastern Tasmania.

Especially these fish can eat creatures that are larger in size than their mass. Recent surveys at the site have found eight individuals, helping scientists estimate that the reef contains between 20 and 40 rare fish.
