Being an overprotective parent is not unusual. You can completely stay close to your children and protect them from the evils of this world.
But there are some parents who take advantage of their position of power to get their children to comply.
One such man is Ohio Policeman John Kovach Jr., who used his badge as a tool of intimidation when trying to get his daughter to stop dating a young man he disapproved of.

Police dash cam footage caught the police arresting her daughter’s boyfriend for no reason,
The video begins with Kovach Jr. pulled into a silver car and approached the passenger. An narration reads the caption, “This is what can happen when an overprotective father is a cop.”
Next, the officer walked around the car before stopping at the driver’s door and shouting, “You can get out!” At that point, he grabbed the door, said “You’re going to jail,” and told a young Negro to sit in his car.

The young man could be heard repeatedly asking what he was being arrested for, but received no response from the officer. But as he was obeying, the officer blurted out, “We’ll make up as we go.”
After securing the man, identified as Makai Coleman, Kovach Jr. was surprised to find his daughter in the back seat of the car he had just pulled over and told her to get in the back of his cruiser too.

His daughter Caitlyn Kovach was caught by the camera in his car asking him to let her out of the car. Instead, he told Coleman he was free to say “Goodbye” over and over again.

Caitlin continued to cry and struggle in the backseat, telling her dad, “I can’t!” He angrily shouted her name in response.
Kovach Jr. defended his actions by asserting that he thought his daughter wanted to commit suicide based on her statement, “If I can’t be with him (Makai), I don’t want to be here anymore.”
In the video, you can hear the officer say to someone, “She said she was going to kill herself.”
Caitlyn protested in the background, denying that she ever said it to her father. The father is said to not accept his daughter’s boyfriend. Caitlyn was eighteen when she started dating Makai Coleman in high school. Her father, a 26-year veteran of the police force, disapproved of the relationship and wanted her to stop seeing Coleman.

There were three passengers inside the vehicle in addition to the driver and Kovach Jr. arrested them in front of the house of one of the passengers.
Kovach was standing at the door because he was monitoring his daughter’s computer there.
Ms. Morales, the mother of the teenagers whose car would eventually park in front of the house, went out to see what was going on.
The officer questioned her about whether she was his daughter, and she didn’t know. He then asked why his daughter’s computer was there and told the woman: “If I check and you lie to me, you will go to jail.”
The mother told Kovach Jr. that he needed a search warrant if he wanted to enter her home.
In retaliation, he threatened to fine her daughter for not wearing a seat belt when teenagers pulled up to the house and accused the woman of causing disorder.
Morales told Kovach Jr. that she was going to call 9-1-1 and that he threatened to arrest her but stopped as soon as he realized his daughter was in the car.
The police officer has been removed from the force.
A department investigation found that Kovach Jr. conducted an unwarranted vehicle stop on Coleman and in 2018 he was fired from the police force. He then appealed and lost.
That investigation also revealed that the officer violated a number of department policies, including failing to notify dispatch, threatening to arrest Morales, detaining Coleman, saying he would create charges. wrong and use his powers to find his daughter.
TikTokers were disgusted by Kovach’s actions. One replied: “No good reason… immediately saw the reason when he went out,” evading the police officer’s disapproval of his daughter having an affair with a man. Black skin.
